Tea in Morocco is a daily affair. It is brewed in elegant serving dishes and poured from high above in order to aerate the aromatics and create foam on the surface.
Tea is served in three washes, and according to an Arabic proverb: "The first is bitter as life, the second is sweet as love, and the third is soothing as death." It is served at meals, welcoming guests, weddings, births, and funerals.
Traditional Moroccan tea starts with Gunpowder Green tea and always blends with spearmint leaves. From there, some variations also call for various floral and citrus additions.
